I went over to my mom’s this evening for her birthday dinner. After we got back I noticed a box in the living room with a few SNES games on top.

She and my stepdad are planning to retire soon and move to Florida, so they’re getting rid of stuff in the house. In the box was a Super Nintendo, a Nintendo, a Game Boy, and several games for each along with a few accessories, notable a Game Genie for the SNES. Being 30, I grew up playing all these systems, but these were presumably my stepdad’s and haven’t been played since ~2002.

A lot of these games still have original boxes and those plastic Nintendo sleeves that as kids we never kept the games in. They said I could have whatever of it I wanted and that they were going to sell the rest on eBay. I already have an SNES and one or two of the games, but I took the rest and will be trying out the other systems soon.

That’s awesome. I still have a working NES that I like to play every now and then. Even have the OG gray gun. Good times.

I don’t have the gun in here, but I could easily find one. The only one that I’m going to try in the immediate future is the Game Boy.

Same here, I love going old school at times.

Hnnnnnnggggg...

The NES and GB are worth a decent amount of money now. I would probably play them once or twice for novelty, but if you enjoy the games, consider getting a Retron 5 to play the cartridges on to save the wear and tear on the original systems. I’ve been buying up Genesis games recently and my Genesis itself is starting to get temperamental so I’ll probably be going that route soon.
